Sailing Thailand - Mu Ko Angthong National Marine Park 4 Day Sailing Safari

Sailing Thailand - Ang Thong

The Island Cruises Ang Thong National Marine Park 4 Day Sailing Safari will lead you on a sailing expedition to one of the last untouched and un spoilt natural attractions remaining in Thailand. The 42 magnificent limestone islands together with their gorgeous underwater world will be an impression that lasts a lifetime. Covering a distance of about 100 nautical miles, this Safari combines serious sailing with the possibility of having the major attractions of the islets completely for yourself.

Day trips from Koh Samui are frequenting the area and following a strict regime and timetable, only touching down on the main Islands. With Island Cruises experienced Skippers and Crew who are often visiting this superb sailing ground, have noted that there is still such a large expanse of the Ang Thong National Marine Park yet to be explored, and with each Safari more natural wonders are discovered. In this part of the world it is still truly possible to have the feeling as though you are the last or the first person on earth.

The Ang Thong National Marine Park has something on offer for everyone, rock climbing, snorkeling, fishing, relaxing on a beach or aboard the Island Cruise Yacht, soaking up the sun, cave exploration, bush walking, swimming in the Emerald Lagoon, experiencing undisturbed tropical nature and the best it has to offer.

This area offers good winds for sailing the region all year round so come join the Island Cruises team still on the voyage of Sailing discovery and exploration in this region.

The Safaris start and finish in Koh Tao, however if guests have plans to visit Koh Phangan or Koh Samui it is possible to arrange a drop of on these Islands given that they are so close to the Ang Thong National Marine Park but that does permit a loss of sailing time on the final day. For guests coming to Koh Tao simply for the Safari we are able to offer a ferry service from both Koh Samui and Koh Phangan providing a transfer directly from the pier to the Island Cruises Safari Yacht.

The following is a template of a possible itinerary for the 4 Day Ang Thong National Marine Park Safari and is subject to change according to wind direction, speed and guests specifications.

Sailing Safari Day 2

-Enjoy a hearty breakfast served and provided by your Island Cruises team.

-Enjoy a light hiking excursion to the best view point in the district (some say perhaps one of the best view points in Thailand itself).
At this time of the day, hours before the first tour boats arrive, guests are having the trail completely to themselves. On the trail meet up with a family of Dusky Languor allow themselves to be observed incredibly closely. (For the completion of the trail basic fitness and shoes are a must but the reward is a fantastic panorama of scattered limestone islands.) On the way back say hello to the monkey family. Back to the beach, have a little break before heading to Bua Boke Cave. Upon returning lunch is waiting to be served aboard your temporary Island Cruises home. Afterwards set sails for Koh Saamsao to have a look at the stone bridge and enjoy some snorkelling. Then it will be time to hoist the anchor again and motor to the final destination of the day, Koh Mae Koh. A little beach exploration and dinner served on the boat.

Sailing Safari Day 3

After breakfast we're visiting Talay Nai (inner sea), an emerald green lagoon surrounded by limestone bluffs, connected to the sea only by an underwater tunnel.
Looking at this natural wonder tells you how somebody could have the idea for a book like "the beach".
It's time for going up anchor again and sail to the northern islands of the group to have a look at the small lagoon at Koh Tai Plaow.
Upon arrival we're noticing two tour boats, so we're having a change of schedule and going with our fast dinghy over to Ko Ngam and Ko Rork to snorkel through some cave tunnels.
We're really lucky with the visibility under water. After snorkeling through a tunnel from the eastern to the western side of Koh Rork the tunnel opens and gives the view free to a perfectly alive coral garden. Our guests are a little bit afraid of the black tip reef shark who is waiting for us at the other entrance but after a little mental support they don't miss this attraction.
After the tour boats disappeared we're visiting the little lagoon on Koh Tai Plaow.
On request of our customers who need internet access we're setting sails after lunch and do the 5 hour sail to Koh Phangan.
After dinner our guests having an evening ashore.
